Through the windows: Education, Civil Society and Women’s Agency
The programme opens at 16:00 with welcome remarks and a panel discussion (16:00–17:30), bringing together perspectives from European studies and feminist security research, cultural diplomacy and media representation, civic engagement and community-building, and frontline military experience and leadership in times of war. This is followed by a feminist analysis and Q&A session (17:30–18:45), offering space for reflection and audience exchange. The event concludes with a closing summary from 18:45 to 19:00.
Speakers
Nina Pugach is an officer of the Army of Ukraine. She speaks about the deep transformations within military units in 2014–2026, the psychological and motivational shifts among military people, and the emergence of new forms of leadership and mutual support. Her perspective reveals the reality of the frontline — honest, dignified, and free of pathos, grounded in lived experience and daily resilience.
Serhii Zahorodniuk is a project manager with extensive experience in European studies, civil society development, and international cooperation. He oversees the full implementation of the project and has led numerous educational, cultural, and civic initiatives focused on European integration and community empowerment.
Hanna Mühlenhoff is a Senior Lecturer in European Studies at the University of Amsterdam. She is interested in questions of security, militarism and civil society activism in the European Union and Europe, including in the context of the United Nations' Women, Peace and Security Agenda and Feminist Foreign Policies.
Nastya Poberezhna is a project manager and community‐builder focusing on gender equality, youth initiatives, and social innovation. She works on cultural and educational projects that strengthen local communities and foster new forms of civic engagement.
As a researcher in Cultural Diplomacy Milena Rossokhatska specializes in cultural diplomacy, social transformation, and media representations of Ukraine. She investigates how culture, communication, and international collaboration contribute to societal resilience and cultural exchange.
Olena Kovalenko is a Ukrainian Champion in water jet ski racing and a top manager of major sports projects, including the Olympic Games. With over 25 years of professional experience in marketing, she is also a certified coach. As the founder of her own agency, she collaborated with global brands such as Coca‐Cola, Snickers, and Adidas. Currently based in the Netherlands, Olena organizes cultural programs, exhibitions, and social spaces that build bridges between Ukraine and European countries.
