Op 26 mei vertonen we de documentaire Wij Zijn het Archief (2024), met daarop aansluitend een veganistische maaltijd met een poëtische performance van M. Alberto. Kaartjes voor de film en de performances kosten €7,50 en zijn via de ticketknop te verkrijgen. Betalen voor het eten kan op de avond zelf – op basis van donatie – met een minimumbedrag van €5,50.
Over de film:
Wij Zijn het Archief (2024) neemt ons mee in het verborgen verleden van de zwarte queer gemeenschap in Nederland. Wat verbindt ons met de generaties die ons voorgingen, en wat kunnen we van elkaar leren? In deze film ontmoeten jonge queer mensen van kleur de vrouwen van Stichting Mil Colores die al sinds 2000 ontmoetingsplekken creeërt voor vrouwen met verschillende etnische achtergronden en sekusele voorkeuren. Een verhaal over identiteit, veerkracht en een geschiedenis die nog steeds in beweging is. De film is Nederlands gesproken met Engelse ondertiteling.
Over de performer:
Alberto performt en componeert muziek en woorden; en werkt als theatermaker, muzikant-poëet en artiest-onderzoeker aan beide zijden van de Atlantische Oceaan. Geboren op Curaçao en woonachtig in Nederland; M. reist over de wereld en werkt samen met organisers en andere artiesten, met een focus op zwarte, queer, anarchistische en sekswerker verzet. Op zoek naar het ontmantelen van koloniale structuren “by any means necessary” – maar vaak vanuit kunstenaarschap en radicale kwetsbaarheid.
Als klassiek getrainde componist, muzikale tech wizard, saxophoon virtuoos, prijswinnende poëet en antikapitalistische straat-essayist, weet hen al deze aspecten te combineren in een spirituele performancekunst, waarin de collectieve ervaring centraal staat en tijd relatief wordt. Hun performances worden beschreven als “lively and haunting, full of
energy and urgency” (WDR3).
In de winter van 2024 publiceerde hen een poëzieboek en een live album (met VEHICLE/PASSENGER) die door All About Jazz “one of the most honest and unique recordings of 2024” werd genoemd.

On the 26th of May we will screen the documentary We Are the Archive (2024), followed by a vegan dinner with a poetic performance by M. Alberto. Tickets for the screening and the performances cost €7,50 and are available through the ticket button. About the film:
We Are the Archive (2024) takes us into the hidden past of the black queer community in the Netherlands. What connects us to the generations before us, and what can we learn from each other? In this film, young queer people of color meet the women of Stichting Mil Colores, which has been creating meeting places for women of different ethnic backgrounds and gender preferences since 2000. A story about identity, resilience and a history still in motion. The spoken language of the film is Dutch, with English subtitles.
About the performer:
Alberto performs and composes music and words; and works as a theatre-maker,
musician-poet and artist-researcher on both sides of the Atlantic. Born in Curaçao and
currently based in The Netherlands; M. travels the world, collaborating with organisers
and other artists, with a focus on black, queer, anarchist and sex-worker resistance. Seeking to dismantle colonial structures “by any means necessary” – but often from
artisanship and radical vulnerability.
Equal parts classically trained composer, music tech wizard, saxophone virtuoso, award
winning poet and anti-capitalist street-essayist, they have combined all these aspects into
a spiritual performance practice, in which the collective experience is centred and time
becomes relative. Their performances have been described as “lively and haunting, full of
energy and urgency” (WDR3).
Winter ‘24 they published a poetry book and a live album (with VEHICLE/PASSENGER)
which was hailed by All About Jazz as “one of the most honest and unique recordings of
2024′′.
