TisDass (Niger)

TisDass – rock touareg from Niger

TisDass, hailing from Niger, is set for another European tour in 2026. Following the military putsch in August 2023, which led to the cancellation of a significant portion of their tour, the band successfully returned to European stages in 2025 with 32 dates across 9 countries.

Tisdass is led by singer-guitarist Moussa Kildjate Albadé, and is based in Niamey with roots in Tchintabaraden, a town emblematic of the Tamasheq kel of Niger. “TisDass” means ‘Pillars‘ in Tamasheq, a reference to the pillars of traditional Berber tents. This name signifies the group’s deep connection to their culture, which they aim to defend and promote through their powerful music.

Houmaïssa, released by Bolingo Art/Rebel Up (Inouïe Distribution), is named after a Tuareg symbol exclusively worn by women. With this album, TisDass pays homage to women, who are considered the pillars of the family in Tuareg society. While the album features a quicker tempo, the acoustic tracks “Tara” (Love) and “Itag Aguen” (Many things are happening) maintain the distinctive sound of Sahelian music. The remaining tracks showcase the rock direction the band has embraced on stage. The songs’ themes consistently reflect the Tuareg people’s desire and hope for peace, as heard in “Taflist” (Trust), “Derhan” (Hope), and “Ikewagne” (Root).

The inspiration for a third album arose when the current line-up toured to support Amanar (Bolingo Art), recorded in 2019 and released in 2021 (Inouïe Distribution). Since then, TisDass‘ music has evolved into a decidedly rock sound with more danceable tracks, thanks to the contributions of rhythm guitarist Mouhamed Khamed Assalerh, the faster drumming of young Issoufou Dan Nana Ichaya, and the enhanced groove from experienced bassist Bouba Hamidine Souleymane. The ever-present backing vocals and claps further enrich their sound.

Presale/door prices adjusted: our events are set up by volunteers in favour of supporting DIY touring acts, but it is getting ever more risky to plan and book events – please support the community and buy your tickets early! Presale closes 18.00 on day of the show.
