Double Trouble: Duets at Grond

A new series of duet performances by some of Amsterdam’s best musicians.  Curated by Grond member David Mitchell, the new series will put together pairs of musicians for new and unexpected encounters, showing different approaches to the same instrument or unusual combinations of instruments, all with a common aim:  to take musicians out of their comfort zone.  For the first edition we put together two electric guitarists with very different approaches:  Theo Holsheimer has previously performed at Grond with Cilice Orchestra, his project that puts together the power of metal with intricate arrangements for jazz and classical musicians; David Mitchell has a background in modern jazz and the classical traditions of Central Asia, and works with long form loops to create complex layered improvisations.  Thursday 20 November at 8pm, tickets 10Euros/7 Euros (concessions).
