Zeid Hamdan

Nicknamed the “godfather of Lebanese underground music,” Zeid Hamdan is an artist, composer, and producer whose career has transformed independent music in the Middle East. Co-founder of the legendary band Soapkills with Yasmine Hamdan, he blended trip-hop, dub, and Eastern music, creating what the French press called “Eastern trip-hop.” Their albums Cheftak (2002) and Enta Fen (2005) marked a generation. As Bedouin Burger, Zeid collaborated with Lynn Adib to blend electronic music, jazz, and Bedouin influences, demonstrating his insatiable quest for innovation and his ability to revisit his cultural roots. Recent collaborations also include working with singer-songwriters Maryam Saleh, Maii Waleed, and Selin Sümbültepe In 2025, he served as musical director for the Printemps de Bourges creation paying tribute to Oum Kalthoum, inviting several internationally renowned artists to bring this ambitious repertoire to life. A visionary and multidimensional artist, Zeid Hamdan continues to reshape the Arab music scene. In 2026, he will release new music with MDLBEAST Records and take his new live act to stages around the world.
