Jazzy Thursdays x Maarten Voortman Trio

Maarten Voortman is an Amsterdam jazz piano player. In the past few years he's made a name for himself in the city of Amsterdam, being a regular on the scene and a sought after pianist. He's a regular player at Cafe Alto, the Ten Club, Freddy's Bar and Hotel the l'Europe, and a member of Rob van der Wouw's Quartet with Erik Kohl and Simon Osuna on the rhythm section. As a pianist his style is swinging, melodic and deeply personal. He has a firm grasp on the jazz repertoire, a result of dedicated practice of the bebop tradition and a loving admiration for piano titans Bud Powell and Wynton Kelly.Tonight they will play as a trio, with the aforementioned Erik Kohl and Simon Osuna, and Jon Bardiola joining on trumpet, all the way from NY. They will play some well known and lesser known standards, as well as a few originals.
