You’re looking at me, and I’m looking at you!
I’m sitting on this chair, trying to find the right words to tell you what this show is about. Because tonight is about connection—about letting the mask slip, and allowing ourselves to simply be on stage, fully present, fully alive.
Meisner Studio Amsterdam – MSA was founded in August 2023 by British-born actor, teacher, and writer Leila Gray, of Jewish and Iranian heritage. Meisner Studio has since grown into a vibrant community offering foundation, intermediate, and advanced Meisner technique classes. As Leila says, “Meisner technique reminds us that the most interesting choices come from our authentic selves.” It encourages actors to be more spontaneous, more truthful, and more deeply connected on stage.
Tonight, you’ll see six improvised relationship scenes performed by the wonderful actors of MSA. They will only know their relationship and a small piece of background information, while integrating some of the things they learned in the intermediate course, like point of view.
Everything else that happens on stage—every choice, every reaction, every moment—will be a surprise for them, and for us. :)
