TRANSCRIPT x MOLK image!

TRANSCRIPT is a seasonal literary magazine, featuring literary essays, short stories, poetry, and everything in-between, edited by Daniël van der Winden and Iris Cuppen. ISSUE FOUR was printed in an edition of 100 copies, featuring writing and visual contributions by Andrea Chapela, Ella Frears, Jan van Tienen, Nicholas Jeeves, and Ade Hanft. On

TRANSCRIPT was born out of a desire to capture what has been said, or what has roughly been said; to copy what we hear, so we can hear again; to create an echo. Or, as Georges Perec wrote in Species of Spaces (1973): “to write: to try meticulously to retain something, to cause something to survive; to wrest a few precise scraps from the void as it grows, to leave somewhere a furrow, a trace, a mark or a few signs.”

Iris and Daniël will give an introduction to the magazine, followed by readings by Jan van Tienen and Henrik Kongsvoll Johansen, as well as a short intermezzo by Thomas & Jurgen. It will be possible to buy the fourth edition of TRANSCRIPT at the event.

Edited and designed by Iris Cuppen & Daniël van der Winden, TRANSCRIPT was born out of a desire to capture what has been said, or what has roughly been said; to copy what we hear, so we can hear again; to create an echo. Or, as Georges Perec wrote in Species of Spaces (1973): “to write: to try meticulously to retain something, to cause something to survive; to wrest a few precise scraps from the void as it grows, to leave somewhere a furrow, a trace, a mark or a few signs.”

Molk:

A collective of artists based in Amsterdam in process of revamping the Chicago record label MOLK that Frank Rosaly initiated in 2005. In addition, MOLK Factory creates a space that invites and offers a broader spectrum of initiatives and projects:

  • MOLK Records: Digital releases, Cassettes, LPs, livestreams and a collection of new music and video work.

  • MOLK Sessions: LIVE performative, sonic and visual work in our physical studio at Plantage Dok, in the center of Amsterdam.

We aim to be home for the work of ourselves and peer artists from around the world who share our vision.

Maiami:

Maiami is an artist drawn to the tactile world of analogue print making. Her practice thrives on experimentation. For this particular print, she gave new life to discarded materials. She used recycled images, leftover patterns, and unused elements from previous works to make a composition about capturing and recording time. By repurposing what was once removed or overlooked, Maiami created a layered narrative of repetition and reinvention in which every print holds an echo of its past.
