Sunday 6 December

The GROND members and live electronics performers Jasna Veličković and Fani Konstantinidou invite on stage three special guests, Iakovos Pavlopoulos (percussion), Wytze Minne de Swart (saxophone), and Ivo Bol (electronics), for a free improvisation night.

Iakovos Pavlopoulos is an Athens based percussionist, performer, and improviser. He is devoted to drums, habitually modifying his drum kit with alternative percussion instruments and objects. Pavlopoulos counts numerous collaborations in diverse projects concentrated in jazz, experimental, contemporary, and improvised music. Over the last decade he has been working as a percussionist and sound designer for theatrical performances, as well as a drum teacher.

Wytze Minne de Swart is a saxophone player and composer of electronic music mainly for theatre. In his work he likes to use a foremost ‘sonic approach’ to music. In which the timbres and textures are the starting point of his compositions and improvisations.

Ivo Bol creates his own sound world using found sounds: the hum of a refrigerator, a forgotten cassette tape, the crackle of a vinyl record before the music begins. During performances he manipulates these sounds using plants, radios and brainwaves. Under the name Vinkepeezer, Bol composes music for dance and theatre productions, filmmakers and visual artists in the Netherlands and abroad.

Jasna Veličković is a Belgrade-born composer and performer based in Amsterdam. Her artistic output has been developed through an interaction between a life-long fascination with sound and an inclination toward experimentation. Her work investigates how magnetic phenomena can become compositional systems, with a particular focus on magnetism as both sonic material and compositional method.

Fani Konstantinidou is an Amsterdam-based composer and performer. She composes electronic music in self-designed digital musical environments, incorporating a broad spectrum of sound sources inspired by the sonic imprints of cultural, cross-cultural, and social identities. Her musical ideas take shape in various formats, including site-specific and multichannel works, improvisation, and compositions for various instruments and electronics.
