In het midden van het toneel komt een marionet van linnen, met de hand geborduurd met naald en draad, tot leven in directe relatie met het lichaam van marionettiste Juliana Notari en in dialoog met het bewegende lichaam van danser Ivo Grieco. Zwevend en in een constante staat van ademhaling veroudert ze op het podium, en onthult zo een poëtica van de beweging tussen controle en autonomie, materie en gebaar. Haar lichaam-huid, poreus en doorkruist door draden, roept de structuur van een rivier op: veelzijdig, levend en in voortdurende transformatie. De originele soundtrack van Ceumar leidt de dramaturgie als een gevoelige stroom, die de verschillende bewegingen van het werk met elkaar verbindt en een affectieve en aquatische dimensie in de scène creëert. De muziek, het lichaam, de marionet en de dans ontmoeten elkaar in een ruimte van luisteren en verbinding, waar elk element het andere beïnvloedt en transformeert. Rio Rugas, verdeeld in vijf delen, van de bron tot de monding, is een uitnodiging om de tijd als levende materie te doorkruisen, waarbij ouderdom wordt gevierd als kracht, herinnering en continuïteit. Een rivier van lichamen, gebaren en gevoelens, waarin ouder worden betekent blijven stromen.
Juliana Notari is poppenspeelster, regisseur en onderzoeker op het gebied van de hedendaagse poppenkunst. Al 25 jaar ontwikkelt ze eigen onderzoek naar lichaam, materie, beweging en Marionete Livre. Als maker van werken als Velhas Caixas, Habitada, Coágulo, Diálogo en Rio Rugas heeft ze haar werk gepresenteerd op festivals en in artistieke projecten
in Latijns-Amerika, Europa en Azië. Haar loopbaan wordt gekenmerkt door poëtisch onderzoek naar de relatie tussen marionet, herinnering, muziek en transformatie. ENG
Rio Rugas is a puppet theatre performance that combines music, visual theatre and dance to explore the passage of time etched into the body. Inspired by the flow of a river, the performance is based on the concept of the body as a collective territory, criss-crossed by memories, feelings and transformations, where wrinkles emerge like tributaries of life.
In the centre of the stage, a linen marionette, hand-embroidered with needle and thread, comes to life in direct relation to the body of puppeteer Juliana Notari and in dialogue with the moving body of dancer Ivo Grieco. Floating and in a constant state of breathing, she ages on stage, thus revealing a poetics of movement between control and autonomy, matter and gesture. Her body-skin, porous and criss-crossed by threads, evokes the structure of a river: multifaceted, alive and in constant transformation.
Ceumar’s original soundtrack guides the dramaturgy like a sensitive current, connecting the work’s various movements and creating an affective and aquatic dimension within the scene. The music, the body, the marionette and the dance come together in a space of listening and connection, where each element influences and transforms the other. Divided into five movements, from source to mouth, *Rio Rugas* is an invitation to traverse time as living matter, celebrating old age as a source of power, memory and continuity. A river of bodies, gestures and emotions, where growing old means continuing to flow.
Juliana Notari is a puppeteer, director and researcher in the field of contemporary puppetry. For 25 years she has been developing her own research into the body, matter, movement and Free Puppetry. Creator of works such as Velhas Caixas, Habitada, Coágulo, Diálogo and Rio Rugas, she has presented her work at festivals and artistic projects
in Latin America, Europe and Asia. Her career is marked by a poetic exploration of the relationship between puppetry, memory, music and transformation.

Rio Rugas é uma obra cênica de marionete que fusiona música, teatro visual e dança para investigar o tempo inscrito no corpo. Inspirado no fluxo de um rio, o espetáculo parte da compreensão do corpo como um território coletivo, atravessado por memórias, afetos e transformações, onde as rugas emergem como afluentes da vida.
No centro da cena, uma marionete construída em linho, esculpida à mão com agulha e linha, ganha existência em relação direta com o corpo da marionetista Juliana Notari e em diálogo com o corpo em movimento do bailarino Ivo Grieco. Suspensa e em constante estado de respiração, ela envelhece em cena, revelando uma poética do
movimento entre controle e autonomia, matéria e gesto. Seu corpo-pele, poroso e atravessado por fios, evoca a própria estrutura de um rio: múltiplo, vivo e em permanente transformação.
A trilha sonora original de Ceumar conduz a dramaturgia como um fluxo sensível, costurando os diferentes movimentos da obra e instaurando uma dimensão afetiva e aquática na cena. A música, o corpo, a marionete e a dança se encontram em um espaço de escuta e relação, onde cada elemento influencia e transforma o outro.
Dividido em cinco movimentos, da nascente à foz, Rio Rugas é um convite a atravessar o tempo como matéria viva, celebrando a velhice como potência, memória e continuidade. Um rio de corpos, gestos e afetos, onde envelhecer é seguir fluindo.
Juliana Notari é marionetista, diretora e pesquisadora das artes da marionete contemporânea. Há 25 anos desenvolve uma pesquisa autoral sobre corpo, matéria, movimento e Marionete Livre. Criadora de obras como Velhas Caixas, Habitada, Coágulo, Diálogo e Rio Rugas, apresentou seu trabalho em festivais e projetos
artísticos na América Latina, Europa e Ásia. Sua trajetória é marcada pela investigação poética da relação entre marionete, memória, música e transformação.
