Here To Support & Melkweg present: Queer Beyond Borders!

On Friday, June 20, we bring queer migrants into the heart of attention during Queer Beyond Borders. In a society that often questions their existence, we reflect on their stories, their struggles and their beauty.

How do you prove your identity to immigration authorities? What does it mean having to justify your sexuality to a system that doesn't believe you? This evening provides knowledge, perspective and a stage to people who are right in the middle of this.

Members of Queer to Support, an LGBTQIA+ group by and for refugees, take the stage with stories, music and powerful statements. Music fills the space with VICTORY PLANET, a band of queer refugees from West and East Africa, whose powerful sound brings a message of love, hope and radical expression. Alejandra Ortiz, Mexican trans woman and activist, highlights the complexities of marginalization and systemic resistance from her own experience. From Berlin, Angel Maxine, Ghana's first openly transgender artist and a powerful voice within the international queer activist community, travels specifically to share her music and activism. House of Bodega, a fiery ballroom family, brings energy and power to the stage with a performance and workshop that invites self-expression, resistance and celebration of self.

With this program, we invite you to be not just a spectator, but an ally.

Come. Listen. Learn.
