The Glowing Pickle Bar
De Glowing Pickle Bar is een volledig geautomatiseerd miniatuurtheater dat een kleine kroeg uitbeeldt. De stamgasten, vol motoren en elektronica, leiden hun eigen kleine leventjes in deze automatenkroeg.
Het publiek wordt in groepjes van 10 uitgenodigd om plaats te nemen in een knusse tent en deze stamgasten te vergezellen.
Daar, vlakbij het publiek, ontvouwt zich een verhaal... Een verhaal over een vreemdeling die de hele kroeg op zijn kop zet.
Er worden geen schermen of projecties gebruikt; de fysieke aanwezigheid van de figuren en de akoestisch gegenereerde geluiden creëren een intieme sfeer. Je staat midden in een levende tekenfilm, je maakt er deel van uit; geen stop-motion, maar 'live-motion'! Het is GEEN virtual reality!
De voorstelling duurt 6 minuten.
Rond het café kan het publiek alvast in de stemming komen met typische Electric Circus-automaten en speelse machines, zogenaamde gespreksonderwerpen.
Electric Circus
Electric Circus is een visueel straattheatergezelschap bestaande uit poppenspeelster Mirjam Langemeijer en kinetisch kunstenaar Fred Abels.
Het duo combineert poppenspel met moderne technieken zoals 'animatronics' en zelfontwikkelde software. Hiermee creëren ze levensechte wezens en visuele installaties waarmee ze wereldwijd optreden. De afgelopen jaren heeft Electric Circus zich gericht op automatische miniatuurvoorstellingen, uitgevoerd door robotpoppen en geprogrammeerde machines.
Rolf Meesters versterkt het team voor programmering en ontwikkeling sinds het project 'Headspace'.
Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam
Het internationale Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam biedt van 1 t/m 6 april opnieuw een podium aan beeldend theater, poppenspel en performances die de norm bevragen. Het thema van de 5e jubileumeditie is ‘The Nature of Things’ en geeft een radicaal antwoord op het westerse en koloniale framing. Beeldend theatermakers en performers vanuit de hele wereld komen bij elkaar tijdens dit festival.
Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam is queer, feministisch, activistisch en schittert bovenal in eigenwijsheid. Het is het enige festival in Nederland dat poppen- en objecttheater voor volwassenen koppelt aan queer verbeelding . In de safe space die het poppenspel creëert, kan iedereen zijn wie hen, zij, hij, wil en elkaar kan ontmoeten. Verwacht een uitdagende mix van lichamen, verhalen die weigeren in zich aan te passen in bestaande dominante structuren, visuele & erotische uitspattingen, edgy performances, prikkelende lezingen, queery eten en clubby afters.

The Glowing Pickle Bar
The Glowing Pickle Bar is a fully automated miniature theater, that portrays a small pub. The regulars are full of engines and electronics and lead their own little lives in that automata pub.
The public is invited inside a cozy tent in groups of 10, to accompany these regulars.
There , up very close to the audience, a story unfolds.. A story about a stranger, shaking up the whole bar.
There are no screens or projections used, the real presence of the figures and the acoustically generated sounds creates an intimate sensation. Your are standing in the middle of a live cartoon, you are part of it; no stop-motion but a ‘live-motion'! It’s NON-Virtual Reality!
Duration of the performance is 6 minutes.
Around the Cafe the audience can get into the mood with typical Electric Circus automata and playful machines, so-called conversation pieces.
Electric Circus
Electric Circus is a visual street theater company consisting of puppeteer Mirjam Langemeijer and kinetic artist Fred Abels.
The duo combines puppetry with modern techniques such as 'animatronics' and self-designed software. From April 1st to 6th, the international Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam once again offers a platform for visual theater, puppetry, and performances that defy the norm. The theme of the 5th anniversary edition is "The Nature of Things" and offers a radical response to Western and colonial framing. Visual theater makers and performers from around the world will come together during this festival.
Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam is queer, feminist, activist and above all stands out in quirkiness. It is the only festival in the Netherlands that links puppetry and object theatre for adults to queer imagination. In the safe space created by puppetry, everyone can be who they, she, he, wants and can meet each other. Expect a challenging mix of bodies, stories that refuse to adapt to existing dominant structures, visual & erotic outbursts, edgy performances, stimulating lectures, queery food and clubby afters.
