Body Concert
Uitvergrote ledematen, ontdaan van hun huid, vormen een spookachtig romantische, bewegende sculptuur van spieren, pezen en botten. In een uiterst rigoureuze choreografie brengt Kevin Augustine van Lone Wolf Tribe zijn poppen op een aangrijpende manier tot leven met zijn handen, voeten en uitgestrekte benen.
Geïnspireerd door de Japanse Butoh-dans en uitgevoerd op een bitterzoete elektroakoestische soundtrack, combineert dit minimalistische spektakel prachtig vormgegeven poppen van schuimrubber in een woordeloze verkenning van de prachtige vergankelijkheid van het leven.
In een 50 minuten durende voorstelling tilt een reeks droomachtige vignetten onze gedeelde menselijke reis naar een hoger niveau, waarbij onze kwetsbaarheid en veerkracht worden benadrukt en de grenzen van het poppenspel zelf worden verlegd. Zonder tekst en met hartverscheurende verwijzingen naar de natuur, resoneert BODY CONCERT op poëtische wijze: we leven en zijn omringd door leven.

Van woensdag 1 april t/m maandag 6 april presenteren het Plein Theater en Cat Smits Company het vijfjarig jubileum van het internationaal Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam!
Queering Puppets Festival Amsterdam biedt sinds 2022 een podium aan queer perspectieven via grensverleggende vormen van beeldend theater, objecttheater en poppenspel. Dit eigenwijze festival trotseert de norm met een bont en brutaal programma vol uitbundige, visuele uitspattingen uit binnen- en buitenland.
Lone Wolf Tribe
Lone Wolf Tribe is een in New York gevestigd performancegezelschap onder leiding van artistiek directeur Kevin Augustine. LWT toont Augustine's unieke talent als schrijver/regisseur, performer en beeldhouwer, en hun kenmerkende stijl is de met de hand gesneden stam van schuimrubberen poppen.
Door nauwgezet vakmanschap, fysieke inspanning en een uitgesproken duistere humor te combineren, wil LWT met gedurfde, originele verhalen over onze collectieve menselijke ervaring onderzoeken, uitdagen en betoveren.
Body Concert
Oversized body limbs stripped of their skin become a hauntingly romantic moving sculpture of muscles, tendons and bone. Achingly animated in an extremely rigourous choreography Lone Wolf Tribe’s Kevin Augustine performs solo bringing his puppets to unusual life with his hands, feet and outstretched legs.
Inspired by Japanese Butoh dance and performed to a bittersweet electroacoustic score, this minimalistic spectacle partners exquisitely sculpted foam-rubber puppets in a wordless exploration of life’s beautiful impermanance.
At 50 minutes, a series of dream-like vignettes elevates our shared human journey, highlighting our vulnerability and resiliency as the boundaries of puppetry itself are expanded. Performed without a text and accented with heartbreaking hints of nature, BODY CONCERT poetically resonates: we are alive with life all around us.

Lone Wolf Tribe is a New York based performance company helmed by artistic director, Kevin Augustine. Showcasing Augustine’s ‘lone wolf’ virtuosity as writer/director, performer & sculptor, LWT’s signature feature is its hand-carved tribe of foam-rubber puppets.
