About the mini-safaris
Go on an adventure at De Ceuvel! During these Mini-Safaris, you’ll explore the De Ceuvel site together with a guide. Search for everything that lives, crawls, flies or grows between the pavement, jetties and bushes.
In a fun and accessible way, children discover just how much life can be found in their own neighbourhood. Afterwards, you’re guaranteed to look at the nature around you with different eyes.
About this Safari: edible wild plants
In summer, many plants are in full bloom, but in autumn everything starts to change. Leaves fall, flowers disappear and some plants even seem to vanish completely. Yet they are already preparing for winter.
During this mini-safari, we’ll look for edible wild plants at De Ceuvel. How do plants survive the cold months? Which parts remain alive, and which plants can you still eat in autumn?
Afterwards, you’ll know more about how plants make it through the winter and which edible wild plants grow right in your own neighbourhood.
About your guide: Yola Galinsky
Yola has a background in herbal medicine. As a child, she already learned how plants can be used for their medicinal properties.
She loves introducing people to the nature growing all around us and showing how we, as humans, can take good care of it too. After all: the more you know it, the more you love it!
Yola is also involved with NoordOogst in Amsterdam-Noord.
Practical information for parents and carers
Supervision: Children participate under the supervision of a parent, carer or another responsible adult. Please do not leave your child unattended – you remain responsible for them during the activity.
Fun for all ages: Parents are very welcome to join in too: the safaris are fun and educational for all ages.
Where: We gather at the De Ceuvel square. Walk through the De Ceuvel gate and you’ll spot the guide. In bad weather, we gather under the covered area by the Maakbar.
Cancellation: Can’t make it after all? Please cancel via tessa@deceuvel.nl so someone else can take your place.
Food and drinks: We provide free lemonade and tea.
Café de Ceuvel opens from 12:00. Do you have a Stadspas with a green dot? Then you receive a discount at the café.
