Let Your Cup Runneth Over is a screening night and hangout celebrating feminist animators from Eastern Europe, featuring bold, personal, and experimental animated short films from the late 1990s to today.
This event grew out of the programmers’ wish to see and share more work by women from Eastern Europe on screen. Their films are still too often underrepresented, flattened into regional labels, or left out of contemporary animation conversations altogether.
Expect films that spill rather than behave, moving through humor, textures, desire, sound, softness, awkwardness, and excess.
The program brings together works by women who use animation as a space to play, test ideas, repeat, obsess, and take up space on their own terms. Some animation styles are funny, some tender, some messy, some unexpectedly moving. Together, they form a generous, overflowing showcase of women’s minds put on a canvas.
The evening is shaped around the idea of overflow, letting images, feelings, time, and care spill beyond the screen and into a shared, communal space.After the screening, we remain together in the cinema to create a communal collage. You’re invited to sit, talk, stay quiet, or make something gently alongside others.
Simple materials will be available: yarn, paper, glitter, things to hold and pass around. Participation is optional. Slowness is welcome. Care moves through the room.
All bodies, energies, and attention spans are welcome.
