Lael Neale
Minimalist garage pop and drone folk

Lael Neale is an American singer-songwriter from Virginia who brought her "high-lonesome" sound to Los Angeles. She grew up listening to the Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell, and bluegrass, later embracing avant-garde and minimalist pop.

After years of playing guitar and performing in small venues, she discovered the Omnichord in 2019, marking the start of a new creative direction. Together with Guy Blakeslee, she developed a distinctive, minimalist style that garnered attention with the Sub Pop release *Acquainted With Night* (2021), followed by *Star Eaters Delight* (2023) and *Altogether Stranger* (2025). These albums helped Neale build an international live reputation, featuring sold-out shows in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, London, and Paris, as well as support slots for artists like Weyes Blood, Beach House, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

On her fourth album, *As Killers Do*, set for release on November 20, 2026, Neale continues her DIY approach. Recorded with Blakeslee on a Tascam cassette recorder in the kitchen of a Los Angeles bungalow, the album navigates a blend of outsider folk, psych-pop, proto-punk, and Paisley Underground influences.
