Josua Peter

Josua Peter grew up amidst the warmth of South Africa and the down-to-earth nature of North Holland. In his songs, he tries to work out what part of that is truly his own and how much is shaped by the expectations of others. He writes about coming home, growing older and the need for someone to stay by his side when things aren’t going so well,

That last thought is central to his debut track ‘Bones’. Peter imagines what it will be like to be old and less strong later in life, with one simple hope: that someone will be by his side then. Musically, he moves between folk, indie and pop. The arrangements give his lyrics room to breathe, whilst his voice, with a range of four octaves, takes the songs from quiet verses to sweeping choruses.
