How Can We Draw Our Voice?

Sound becomes shape! Children speak, hum and sing into a vibrating plate covered with fine sand, and watch their voice turn into a pattern. They discover that every sound is a vibration, and that high and low sounds create different shapes. Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky, who believed colours have sounds, children draw and paint what they see. We finish with a listening game: how do we recognise our surroundings through sound alone?
The workshop is designed & led by Ahmet Dundar and Secil Guven in collaboration with Art Studio Amsterdam
This workshop is an extension of a children's art and science course.
