Gruppo Sportivo is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is bidding farewell to the stage with a final tour of pop venues and festivals. “We’re still going strong and want to call it a day whilst we’re at the top of our game. That’s why we’re doing one last tour that will be unforgettable,” says singer and guitarist Hans Vandenburg.
Alongside the band’s iconic frontman and creative linchpin, the line-up features singers Lies Schilp and Inge Bonthond, better known as the Bombitas. On keyboards is the young talent Len de Quant, who in 2024 took over the reins from his proud mentor, the late Peter Calicher. Founding member and drummer Max Mollinger and bassist Tim Barning are also back in the line-up.
‘Hey Girl’, ‘Beep Beep Love’, ‘Disco Really Made It’, ‘Tokyo’ and ‘Rock ‘n Roll’ will of course feature, but anyone who knows Gruppo Sportivo even a little bit knows that they are just as likely to pull unexpected gems from their extensive repertoire.
