Jaap and Jasper have known each other for years and improvised together in many a variety of ad hoc situations. Some time ago, Jaap had the brilliant idea of starting a new band under his own name, for the first time in many years, called Jaap Blonk's Retirement Overdue (with Miguel Petruccelli and Frank Rosaly). After many concerts and a double album with this band, a duo project was imminent.
Jaap and Jasper are both extremely idiosyncratic improvisers and composers, who by definition colour beyond the usual pathways with convincing and urgent impulsiveness. Both have a vast spectrum of dynamics, textures and contrasts at their disposal. After years of playing together in all kinds of different contexts, this duo is a festive explosion of musical vitality.
TRAILS
Trails is the dynamic trio of Gonçalo Almeida, Nora Mulder and Felicity Provan. Their music is characterized by their meticulous attention for detail, their inventive mastery of their instruments and their collective original musical language. The combination of written compositions and improvisations provides a solid conceptual framework for their energetic performances.
