De Zilveren Beker

Joris van Rijn presents a May 4/5 programme: a story with music of Béla Bartók, Franz Schubert, Władysław Lidauer, Anneke Frankenberg, folk music from Hungary, Slovakia and Russia.
1942:
A 11-year-old Jewish boy goes into hiding. He has to leave everything behind, including the silver cup that he received from his German grandfather after his birth to protect him.
2009:
A grandfather who knows he doesn't have much longer to live, makes a book for his 2-year-old granddaughter with the story of the silver cup: to tell her about the war, the hiding, the angels who saved him, and how the cup came back to him. But above all: to tell her how much he loves her.
