De Ceuvel presents its plan to the city
A year ago, we were granted a two-year extension. And in the mean time we haven’t been idle. In December, we presented a detailed plan to the District Chairman, Abrim Abid, as well as the Alderman Steven van Weyenberg (the main politician in charge of developments in this city). Monday evening we will present our plan to the city.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. | 6:30 p.m. dinner together | 7:30 p.m. presentation of our plan for the future.
Note: this event will be held in Dutch.
Price: Free, donations are welcome

To clarify our plan, we are proud to announce four amazing speakers. Two are external experts and two are members of De Ceuvel.
Tessa Hermelink will be our host for the evening. Tessa—born and raised in North of Amsterdam—is our cultural programmer and a member of De Ceuvel.
Landscape architect Steven Delva is a real expert in terms of nature-inclusive development and was one of the masterminds behind the plan for the purifying park here. Steven will clarify our general development vision. He emphasizes the societal benefits of cooperative development.
Our chair of the park committee, Anke Wijnja (member of De Ceuvel), will share with us the current status of the purifying park. She will also present our promises to the city. Furthermore, she will discuss the Zoöp. How – in addition to people – can the rest of local nature have a say in the development process?
Next, Jasper Klapwijk, the leading expert in Dutch cooperative finance, will clarify the financial aspects. He will explain what the budget for further development looks like and how much the municipality would save in planning and sanitation costs. He will also discuss the legal aspects of the project.
Then Tessa will say a few words. For she is planning to write a cultural plan for the future of our incubator. Of course, she will do this collaboratively with the members, the neighborhood, the city, and the rest of local nature. She will give us a sneak peek of her initial ideas and thoughts.
Finally, we will engage in a conversation with the audience. But mostly, we just want to get started. We will divide ourselves into four different groups, so that we can brainstorm about the possibilities and wishes for the park, the homes, the water plot, and the workplaces. And, above all, about how everyone can contribute to make this cooperative dream a reality.
About the Community Kitchen
Café De Ceuvel organizes for the second year a series of evenings around ‘Amsterdam in development,’ with a warm meal followed by an in-depth program. As a sustainable creative hub, De Ceuvel aims to make it accessible for everyone, and you are welcome to join for just the meal or the full program.
The theme and De Ceuvel
This series explores how Amsterdam can grow sustainably by seeing projects as places that contribute to an inclusive and resilient future, with creative hubs like De Ceuvel playing a key role.
“How can Amsterdam remain a city where creative hubs can continue to function as permanent testing grounds in a constantly changing world?”
