Amsterdam Fringe Festival: The Sudden and Untimely Death of David Attenborough – Agat Sharma / Intimidation Tactics

Info

For the first time in Europe, in the voice of the iconic presenter who taught us how to look at nature, we will witness a spectacular natural phenomenon that has not been seen in over a century on European soil.

We will witness the sudden and untimely death of David Attenborough and travel with him into his afterlife. David Attenborough was known to be a great nature documentary presenter. But on 45 occasions, he was the first person ever to say the word ‘Europe’ in the deep forests of the world. This changed everything. Now in his afterlife, he must collect these ‘Europes’ back using a special device.

For the first time in Europe, in this weird and spooky theatrical adventure we travel with the ghost of Attenborough into a moving forest full of fabulous folk stories and dance with strange creatures in a landscape that has been irreversibly and unrecognisably transformed.

Biography

Agat Sharma (1984, Jaipur, India) is an artist and theatre maker. His work prominently features themes examining the emergence, evolution and erasure of the relationship between land and the body. Grounded in a research background, he focuses on the root causes underlying contemporary climate and ecological collapse. He works with an expanded understanding of what storytelling can be and do, deeply influenced by ‘folk’ and pre-modern theatre traditions. His theatre practice employs embodied research and participatory tools to evoke postcolonial imaginings with wider audiences. Agat grew up in India and moved to Amsterdam to study at DAS Theatre. Agat is the founder of Intimidation Tactics (I_T), a post-critical theatre research agency based in the Netherlands.
