Alok

Alok

Alok challenges the gender binary through poetry, comedy, and a healthy dose of radical self-acceptance. The world-renowned performer blends softness with humor, proving that healing begins with the unconditional freedom to be yourself. Whether it be through their acclaimed books or sold-out shows on Netflix Is a Joke, Alok’s message inspires people worldwide and hits like a sledgehammer of love.

In Alok’s first comedy special, “BIOLOGY!,” they are the subject of the short documentary “ALOK,” produced by Jodie Foster and directed by Alex Hedison. On screen, they can also be seen in “Complicated Order,” “The Trans List,” and “Absolute Dominion” (coming soon). On television, Alok has appeared in HBO’s “Sex Lives of College Girls,” “Sort Of,” and “Random Acts of Flyness,” Hulu’s “Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne,” and Netflix’s “Gender Agenda Comedy Special” and “Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness.”

This summer, Alok will be touring in Europe with a stand-up comedy show. During World Pride, they’ll also be stopping by Melkweg for a performance in the adjacent Rabozaal. Ticket sales have already started!
