Yager makes pop for that moment when a night out at a club suddenly becomes a bit too personal. Shimmering synths, heavy beats, piano house, drum ‘n’ bass, distorted vocals and catchy choruses are paired with lyrics about friendship, freedom, growing up and the longing to be somewhere completely different.
On her debut album ‘Piratebae’, the tracks range from electropop to emotional rave pop, with productions that are at times light and playful, and at others feature harder, strobe-like beats. The Swedish artist grew up on the small island of Skarpö and, as a teenager, discovered a world far beyond her own surroundings via the internet. That early internet culture and nostalgia form an important part of the album. In her live performances, these extremes come together: vulnerability alongside euphoria, personal songs alongside pop tracks made for a packed venue. She has previously collaborated with artists including Icona Pop and toured with Zara Larsson, but she retains complete control over her music and artistic direction.
