Writing workshop with Zoë Dankert

Part 3: collective art criticism

The final writing workshop is led by art critic and poet Zoë Dankert.

Writing about art is a way of approaching an artwork more closely. Art criticism is often associated with critical distance, but first and foremost, it is about relating to something new. To do so, it is necessary to let go of expectations and to observe slowly. Language can help with this. Through various writing exercises, Zoë Dankert invites you to respond in words to an artwork from the Sonic Acts exhibition Melted for Love.

In earlier workshops, we practiced art criticism and poetry individually. In this workshop, we will observe and create as a group, exploring the possibilities of collective art criticism.

The workshop is free and open to everyone. No prior knowledge or writing experience is required, nor is participation in earlier workshops.

The workshop will be conducted in Dutch, but it is possible to receive feedback on texts written in English.
