Writing Workshop Kinke Kooi
Zoë Dankert returns with two new workshops. Together, we explore how writing can help you get closer to a work of art.
Art criticism is often associated with critical distance, but first and foremost, it is about relating to something new. To do so, it is necessary to let go of expectations and to observe slowly. Language can help with this. Through various writing exercises, Zoë Dankert invites you to respond in words to Kinke Kooi’s exhibition eromheen (being around).
Taking the work of Kinke Kooi as a starting point, the workshop pays special attention to sensory writing. In doing so, we explore the effect of ornamental language.
We will write art criticism (in workshop 1) and poetry (in workshop 2), and discuss how different forms of writing respond differently to an artwork.
This workshop is open to everyone. No prior knowledge of art or writing experience is required to participate. You may attend one of the two workshops or register for both.
Please note: the workshop will be in Dutch, but it is possible to receive feedback on English texts.
