Writing workshop with Zoë Dankert

Part 2: From art criticism to poetry

Writing about art is a way of approaching an artwork more closely. Art criticism is often associated with critical distance, but first and foremost it is about relating to something new. To do so, it is necessary to let go of expectations and to observe slowly. Language can help with this. Through various writing exercises, Zoë Dankert invites you to respond in words to an artwork from the Sonic Acts exhibition Melted for Love. We will write art criticism (in workshop 1) and poetry (in workshop 2), and discuss how different forms of writing respond differently to an artwork.

This workshop is open to everyone. No prior knowledge of art or writing experience is required to participate. You may attend one of the two workshops or register for both.

The workshop will be conducted in Dutch, but it is possible to receive feedback on texts written in English.

You can register by sending an email to: info@rozenstraat.com
