Wey’i Steam present Bou Palu
A sofa, a tree, and the sounds of the Caribbean.

Join us for a screening of Bou Palo Music, a series of acoustic, stripped-down, intimate live music performances. Recorded Bou Palo, under a tree, on a sofa. Why? Because that’s our culture.

Bou Palo is a platform for Dutch-Caribbean artists, promoting not only their talent but also their unique perspectives and message for the community. What started as a recording session for the season finale for the Bou Palo Radio Station, grew into something larger. Through the support of the Caribbean creative community, Bou Palo became a place for people to feel at home, even if only for a few hours.

More about Wey’i Steam Productions

Wey’i Steam Productions started as a desire to have a creative outlet for Caribbean people. Inspired by NPR Tiny Desk, Dropout’s Game Changer, and Food Network, the founders of Wey’i Steam created a space where the Caribbean community can make something silly, fun, and sometimes also serious. So, why not a production house?

The name ‘Wey’i Steam’ is inspired by the Papiamento term for ‘pressure cooker’, a common kitchen pot in Caribbean households, used to cook ‘stoba’ or ‘stew’ under high amounts of pressure With a Wey’i Steam, you mix a bit of each culture prominent in the Caribbean, Indigenous, African, European, and many more, creating a blending pot of flavor and identity; from papaya stews to beef stews, from chicken stew to our personal favorite ‘Komkomber Stoba’. In Caribbean culture, cooking a stoba brings together family, neighbours and friends communal moment. That is what we create when we cook up a project: something for a gathering to enjoy.
