Circularity at De Ceuvel
Have you always wanted to join a tour at De Ceuvel? Then this is your chance! Join the Ceuvel tour guide and learn about the origins and use of circular practices at De Ceuvel.
At De Ceuvel, we experiment with regenerative and circular technologies to close local loops. For example, the soil is cleaned by trees and plants through phytoremediation, and we use constructed wetlands (helophyte filters), aquaponics, and upcycling to turn waste into valuable resources. De Ceuvel is a Zoöp: an organisation where we collaborate not only with people, but also with plants, animals, and ecosystems. By connecting a “Speaker for the Living” to our organisation, we give nature a voice in our decisions and explore how we can strengthen the living environment.
De Ceuvel is located in the former industrial area of Buiksloterham and is one of the pioneers in transforming this polluted zone into a sustainable neighbourhood. De Ceuvel was an important source of inspiration for, among others, Metabolic and the Municipality of Amsterdam in drafting the Manifesto for Circular Buiksloterham, which in 2015 was signed together with De Ceuvel by all key stakeholders involved in the development of the area.
