On Tuesday, June 10, four graduating artists from AEMA (Amsterdam Electronic Music Academy, Conservatorium van Amsterdam) will present their grande finale show at Melkweg: Thuis Komen. An evening where personal stories, musical identity and a sense of homecoming, all come together in an intimate and warm setting. All four artists share their unique vision of what “home” means - a theme that feels universal, but has different connotations for everyone. Expect an evening of honest lyrics, diverse sounds and heartfelt moments.
Mees (Loenen)
Mees opens the evening with his raw, poetic Nederrock. His music breathes memories, family ties and the atmosphere of the eastern part of the Netherlands. Think about open landscapes, childhood memories and the tranquility of the countryside - translated into a sound that is both melancholic and powerful. As a multi-instrumentalist and producer, Mees knows how to maintain his stories close. His songs urge you to stop, and think about what really matters.
Ruskey
The Amsterdam R&B talent who previously sold out Paradiso twice brings a mix of sensitive vocals and self-produced beats. His two “Baby Boy” EPs demonstrate his ability to capture love, vulnerability and self-reflection in warm, modern R&B. On stage, he knows how to set an atmosphere that immediately draws you in. For Coming Home, he shares his most personal work to date.
Jurre Elias
Jurre Elias combines his Frisian roots with the rhythm of the city in his fresh, electronic pop. He sings about being young, chasing dreams and finding your place in the world. Jurre writes, sings and produces everything himself and knows how to effortlessly touch his audience with recognizable lyrics and strong melodies. His music is personal but accessible - the soundtrack of a new generation.
Daniel
Daniel closes out the evening with his honest and raw Boombap tracks. Inspired by artists like 2PAC and Kendrick Lamar, he brings a sound that rubs, moves and comes in. His lyrics are golden honest and touch on personal themes, while the beats provide pure head-nod energy. When playing live, Daniel and his band just know how to put down an unmistakable vibe that sticks.
