On the 28th of July, join us for an evening of poetry, presence and power.
The Shoulders We Stand On is a gathering to honor our queer elders and trailblazers with powerful poetry and spoken word by queer wordsmiths alongside a cozy communal (vegan!) dinner. Studio/K will be collaborating with Stichting Unwanted Words to help us reflect on and commemorate queerness. Besides the booked artistis, there will be an open mic for poetry performances.
Stichting Unwanted Words is an award-winning platform for emerging queer poets and spoken word artists in the Netherlands. Their goal is to create a podium and more options for safe spaces that help facilitate queer connection and growth,
Our goal as a collective is to create spaces where LGBTQ+ talent can thrive and connect with like-minded communities. We are on a mission to provide more options for safe(r) spaces and opportunities for queer connection and growth. We do this through spoken word workshops & open mics such as our Queer Poetry Nights series. As well as initiatives to spotlight the best queer talent in our community such as our 1st & 2nd Queer & Feminist Poetry Awards and our Queer & Feminist Poetry Anthology.
Tickets include dinner! There are 2 ticket pricing available:
note: discount/community tickets are there for the QT’s that aren’t able to afford the full price but still want to attend the dinner. Choose the ticket that suits you best, with care for the community 💕💕

The Shoulders We Stand On is een eerbetoon aan onze queer voorgangers en trailblazers — met krachtige spoken word en poëzie van queer woordkunstenaars, gedeeld tijdens een warme, gezamenlijke (vegan!) maaltijd. In samenwerking met Studio/K en Stichting Unwanted Words komen we samen om queerness te herdenken, vieren en door te geven. Naast de geboekte artiesten is er ook een open mic voor poëzie-performances.
Stichting Unwanted Words is een bekroond platform voor opkomende queer dichters en spoken word-artiesten in Nederland. Als collectief zetten zij zich in voor het creëren van veilige(re) ruimtes waarin LGBTQ+ stemmen kunnen groeien en elkaar kunnen vinden. Via spoken word-workshops, open mics zoals Queer Poetry Nights, en initiatieven als de Queer & Feminist Poetry Awards en de Poëziebundel, zetten zij queer talent volop in het licht.
