...These are questions at the heart of ‘The Rest is Up to Us’ (2026): a collaborative publication of essays, poetry, artistic interventions and reflections on rest, joy and dreaming fostered through collaborative models that decenter colonial institutional culture and practices. Edited by the Curatorium Editorial Collective (Clare Butcher, Saada El-Akhrass, Myung-Sun Kim, Camille Turner), published by Burnaby Art Gallery, the book traces a collective effort to move towards a seemingly unreachable hammock of rest as a practice of resistance.

Curatorium is an ad-hoc collective that brings together artists, arts workers, and curators of diverse disciplines and practices to expand networks of relationships and care across geographies and time zones.
