the last Iceberg

The sculpture The Last Iceberg looks like a small, broken-off segment of a much larger iceberg that has accidentally drifted into the port of Amsterdam. All the other icebergs have melted. This is the only one left.

A fairy-tale-like apparition with a monstrous climate-related dark side, alluding to a world under threat.

For many people, climate change remains an abstract and elusive problem. This installation, ‘The Last Iceberg’, translates a global problem into a local, physical experience for a wide audience.

The work can be seen as a form of visual activism without being explicitly moralising. It raises questions, perhaps raises awareness, and invites discussion.

Met de onthulling van het beeld "de laatste ijsberg " is nog niet veel aandacht besteed aan onze samenwerking in het programma van het "Warming up festival". Het ontwerp is klaar. Het beeld wordt nu 3d geprint zodat het hol is en daardoor van binnenuit verlicht kan worden. Materiaal is het recyclebare plastic PetG Het wordt een blauw baken in de nacht. Zodra een afbeelding van het ontwerp geprint wordt zal ik een foto daarvan opsturen.
