Roba Alma (Stelende Ziel) speelt zich af te midden van de rustieke charme van Boca Samí in de jaren negentig en volgt de 19-jarige Markieta terwijl ze zich een weg baant door het ritme van het visserijbedrijf van haar familie. Haar vurige liefde voor fotografie overschaduwt haar verantwoordelijkheden, waardoor de spanningen met haar zus Ivy toenemen en hun toch al complexe relatie nog ingewikkelder wordt. Terwijl Markieta’s lens momenten vastlegt, maakt het bijgeloof van de gemeenschap in de ziel-stelende kracht van fotografie haar tot een buitenstaander. Temidden van deze onrust stuit ze op een geheim dat verbonden is met haar camera – een erfstuk gehuld in mysterie.
Roba Alma is geschreven en geregisseerd door Elizabeth Francisco, en geproduceerd door Pantalla Chica Productions.

Roba Alma (Thieving Soul) delves into the intricate familial bonds within a quaint community steeped in superstition. Set amidst the rustic charm of Boca Samí during the 1990s, the narrative follows 19-year-old Markieta as she navigates the rhythms of her family ́s fishing enterprise. Her fervent love for photography eclipses her responsibilities, igniting tensions with her sister Ivy and amplifying their already complex relationship.
As Markieta ́s lens captures moments, the community ́s belief in the soul-stealing nature of photography casts her as an outcast. Amidst this turmoil, she stumbles upon a secret entwined with her camera – an heirloom shrouded in mystery.
Roba Alma is written and directed by Elizabeth Francisco, and produced by Pantalla Chica Productions.
At the end of the film, there will be a short Q&A with filmmaker Elizabeth Francisco.
