Read My World;

This year, Read My World welcomes special guests from Maluku and West Papua. Their work forms the starting point for a programme in which writers, artists, musicians and thinkers come together around stories of memory, resistance and solidarity.

The ocean takes centre stage as a space of movement, memory and encounter. It connects stories of migration and diaspora, and illustrates how people, languages and traditions are interwoven across generations and continents. Perspectives from West Papua, Maluku, the Caribbean and the Netherlands explore colonial legacies, the quest for freedom and the transmission of knowledge and culture. Music, literature, poetry, textiles and visual culture play a key role in this as vessels of memory, loss and resilience.

The programme brings together diverse voices, ranging from living song archives to diaspora narratives and discussions on activism and justice. Central to the programme is the question of how art and culture can contribute to collective strength, care and possible futures. Oceanic Solidarity invites you to listen to voices that resonate with one another across time and distance, with the ocean serving as a dynamic space of circulating memories and growing solidarity.
