Queer Crip Collage and Zine making

Queer Crip Collage and Zine making

Heyaaa (´꒳`)♡
Since the quack organization team is taking a break from hosting a community meetup this April, puckling and I thought we could chip in and create an opportunity this month to still hang out, be artsy together, and have interesting conversations.

So feel free to join us for a cozy evening at Nieuwland on Sat 19th April (18.30-22.30), where puckling and I will facilitate a group discussion on the topic of comfort and disabled love, with the help of collage making. We will give you a little intro to the topics and then facilitate a collage making workshop and group discussion. You are welcome to share your thoughts or just let your art speak for itself.  Afterwards, we will collect and transform our collages into two zines that we hope to share with yall at one of the upcoming community meetings. ♡\( ̄▽ ̄)/♡

Everyone experiencing ableism is welcome to join. This includes but is not limited to neurodiverse, disabled, mad and chronically ill people. Please feel welcome if you're not sure if you're disabled (etc.) enough! You're also welcome to join and not engage with the dialogue but just chill and be artsy.

✂️Bring scissors, glue, and any collage materials you already have. We will provide the rest!

🥕 We'll provide vegan snacks as well as tea and drink.

💛 We would appreciate a small donation so that we can pay for the food and the space. Any left over money will be donated to a family in Gaza.

😷 We will provide self tests and covid masks at the venue and kindly ask you to test before you enter and mask up indoors. If you cannot do so for a particular reason, please indicate that in the sign-up form and we will get back to you.

Accessibility:

The main hall we will use and the Kitchen are wheelchair accessible but their toilets are not! The nearest public spaces with wheelchair accessible toilets are Wereldmuseum Amsterdam (open Tuesday-Saturday 10-17H) and hotel The Manor (open 24/7).

There are three cozy couches, long benches, long tables, many standard plastic and wooden fold out chairs, as well as some blankets and pillows. We will do our best to provide even more blankets so that everyone is cozy.

Image description:
torn up pieces of paper with soft colors ranging from blue, to green and pink, as well as an image of little pink flowers, form the background to bold black letters saying in all caps: "An evening of Collage and zine-making". Bellow it says in slightly smaller font: "saturday 19th april, 18.30 t0 22.30 at nieuwland, pieter nieuwlandstraat 93-95, 1093 XN Amsterdam, donation based, vegan snacks" In the bottom of the poster there is a heading stating "reflecting on experiences of comfort and disabled love" and below it "how do you cope when things are hard? what has disability taught you about love? where do you find joy? what small things bring you comfort? what are ways you get brave?"
