Podcastakademie: Scenario Structureren
You have a story or an idea that there is a story hidden somewhere in your material, but you’ve lost track of it. Or perhaps you’ve experienced something yourself that you want to turn into an audio story. If you want to get a grip on your material and shape it into a compelling story, this is the workshop for you. Over three evenings, you’ll learn the essentials of storytelling and work on structuring your story. All under the guidance of Rosa van Toledo.

For years, Rosa van Toledo taught people how to tell small stories in big ways at Echt Gebeurd and later specialised as an editor-in-chief for podcast series. Some titles shaped under her guidance include Kan je even Langskomen?, De echo van MH17, and the Achterwerk podcast by VPRO Gids.
Session 1 (January 7, 2026): What makes a story an (audio) story?
The fundamentals of storytelling: a life story is not necessarily a story; show don’t tell; keep things moving; characters, their motivations, and goals, etc. Narrative beads exercise: what’s really at stake?
Session 2 (January 28, 2026): Structuring
How to divide your story into episodes for a series, or shape it into a single episode, and how to build tension arcs. How do you keep listeners engaged?
Session 3 (February 11, 2026): Restructuring
Not all stories go from A to B to C – in fact, the most beautiful stories play with structure in special ways. In this class, you’ll try rewriting your story; perhaps you’ll find a more captivating or exciting form.
No prior audio-making experience is required for this workshop. Writing is done on paper, but if you prefer working with audio, that’s completely fine as well.

If the course is rescheduled, we will refund purchased tickets in the week following the deadline.
