Podcastakademie: Je familiegeschiedenis als podcast

Podcastakademie: Je familiegeschiedenis als podcast

Every family has at least one story that lends itself well to a podcast. At the same time, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by family histories, which are often long, complex, and emotional. How do you get a grip on your story, ensure good recordings, and keep your family on your side? In this new course by Maartje Duin (known for The Plantation of Our Ancestors, 2020, and Mina & Mevrouw, 2024), you will be challenged to develop a concrete plan of approach.

Maartje Duin (1975) tackles socially relevant themes in her podcasts and knows how to get people talking to each other. Her work (including The Plantation of Our Ancestors, Moslima, and Podkas: Pawel, the Polish Picker) has won awards and nominations both nationally and internationally, has been translated, and has been adapted into (musical) theatre productions.

The course will cover topics such as:

After the first session, you will receive an assignment, handout, and additional reading and listening tips. You will then have three weeks to write a pitch. During the second session, the results will be discussed collectively. Afterwards, you will have two weeks to incorporate the feedback before the final session.

All sessions are held from 19:30 to 22:00 at Tolhuistuin in Amsterdam-Noord.

Experience with interviewing, recording, and editing is desirable but not mandatory. A package deal with the course Building Thrilling Scenes is available. If you are unsure about your skills or equipment, please contact us at akademie@podcastnetwerk.nl.

Podcastnetwerk always strives to organise programmes that are as accessible as possible. The Tolhuistuin venue is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet. The organisation ensures a safe environment during sessions to share (personal) stories and doubts. If the course fee is a barrier for you, please get in touch.

Tickets purchased can be refunded up to 14 days after purchase, unless the course has already started. Read the general terms and conditions of the Podcast Academy 2025-2026 here. If there are insufficient participants, we reserve the right to move the course to a later edition. This will be decided by the registration deadline. Should the course be postponed, purchased tickets will be refunded in the week of the registration deadline.
