Pleasure Providers Pillow Talk

Hosted by Kami Million and Gia G

We warmly invite all Sex Workers and allies to come together on the 1st of June, the night of International Whores Day. A moment for us to rest, reflect and celebrate. Allies are very welcome since our stories need to be shared among us and those who love us. Sex-workers often carry the weight of work, stigma, pain and pleasure all by themselves. It can be a relief to receive understanding from our community. Feeling seen for who we are. Allies, we need you. Together we can resist to that what is trying to bring us down. Resting can also be a form of resistance. [1](Rest Is Resistance, a manifesto, Tricia Hersey). When being in a space where we can be and express ourselves freely then a form of rest arrives. Then there is no resistance needed for what is around us. This night we will allow ourselves to rest and reflect through the form of reading, being and sharing stories. In this burning world, now it’s as important as ever to create spaces to rest together.

This year we do things slightly different and have a bit more of an open stage to share stories and have conversation. In the afternoon there will be a closed gathering for workers at PIC where we will do collective writing and share a pleasure practice. We will share elements from that moment with you as listeners in the evening. If you are a worker and want an invitation for the workshop then please reply to this e-mail.

Our stories are complex and by sharing them we can create nuance in our narratives. The workers are the ones who should do that, we are the narrative, let us speak our own truth. Pleasure Providers Pillow Talk highlights the importance to listen, as well as being heard.

There will be silkscreen prints, and posters for sale to fund further events. Please bring some cash if you can. This event did not get any funding this year and therefore we would appreciate your donation if your financial situation allows you to do so.

* this year our clubnight PLEASERS won’t happen but we hope to be back next year. After our program you are invited to continue your night at PIC for more talks and performances.
