Palpitations – A Concert You Can Feel
What if your heartbeat became part of the music? In Palpitations, the boundary between audience and stage, between concert and theatre, between listening and experiencing, begins to blur. Bassoon virtuoso Thomas Dulfer – known from orchestras across the country – takes you on a captivating journey where music, light, and heartbeats come together in an unforgettable experience.

At the heart of the performance is the bassoon. It’s an instrument everyone knows from the symphony orchestra, yet it continues to surprise when played as a solo instrument. In this program, the audience hears the bassoon both solo and as part of a never-before-seen bassoon choir.

The audience will hear pieces that, quite literally, come straight from the heart, see a spectacular light installation that responds to their own heartbeat, and witness Thomas playing live with his own heartbeat. As a visitor, you won't just be moved – you'll actively take part: your heartbeat becomes part of the "heart orchestra" that makes every concert unique. Alongside this.

Is it a concert? A theatre performance? A TED Talk? A live art experience? Palpitations is all of these at once – and truly something different. Surprising and musically top-tier.

A visitor wrote about Dulfer’s previous project: “This is the kind of thing you’re still talking about at work on Monday. Finally, a concert you don’t just hear – but actually live.
