Nowruz/Nawruz is around the corner, and we would love to invite you to our New Year get-together. Our region, to put it mildly, is under immense pressure, and the impact of these events is felt strongly here in the diaspora.
This gathering is a simple space for us to be together across borders and distances, to acknowledge what is happening in our communities and our region, and to take a moment to breathe. It might feel strange to celebrate Nowruz in such a time, but we believe that coming together in solidarity, connecting, and being present with one another is itself a form of resistance.
Together with diaspora friends from diverse backgrounds, we will fill the day with music and sounds that transcend borders, including Iran, Kurdistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Lebanon, Armenia, and beyond.
Food will be organised by Farhad & Rojin, featuring Kabab Koobideh (on the BBQ) and ash-e-reshte (traditional vega soup).
Everyone is welcome at this event, whether or not you personally celebrate Nowruz.
