North Star Comes to Splendor

North Star is the joint project of bassist/producer/songwriter René Postma, singer Anne-Linn Beekhof, and guitarist/songwriter Mark Schimmel. From Zwolle, the trio works on a distinctive mix of alternative pop, ambient, and downtempo electronics, with influences from acts like Portishead, Massive Attack, and Radiohead. For the third studio album, North Star again collaborated with Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas (MuteMath, Twenty One Pilots), who was also involved in the production of the first two albums. His contribution – as a musician and co-producer – strengthens the band's layered, cinematic sound: dark, spacious, and carefully constructed.

2025 marked a new chapter for the band. With their new album 'Death,' the band has clearly chosen not to shy away from the darker side of their music. The mysterious sound, already present on their earlier albums NorthStar I (2017) and NorthStar II (2023), is further deepened and refined. Not a grand display, but a musical space to get lost in. Live, they are accompanied by Peter ten Wolde on drums. The result: a dynamic and atmospheric show!
