MMODYST (AARON ZVI, SALON)
In MMODYST, artist Aaron Zvi explores the possibilities of painting, symbolism and pattern-making. The exhibition presents a series of works in progress, in which he experiments with visual language and new ways of working. Drawing on his background as a graphic designer, Zvi seeks greater freedom in his artistic practice. By letting go of established structures and breaking conventions, he is developing a more personal visual language in which modernism, psychology and mysticism converge.
The exhibition reveals an artist venturing into new territory. Rather than focusing on the finished result, the emphasis is on the process of exploration, experimentation and discovery.
Aaron Zvi is a British artist, graphic designer and illustrator who has lived and worked in Amsterdam for over twenty years. Born in Reading and raised in Liverpool, his practice explores the intersections of visual language, symbolism, psychology and mysticism.
His fascination with modernism and mysticism is partly rooted in his family history. Through his great-grandparents, writer Mary Butts and poet and publisher John Rodker, he is connected to a broader cultural and intellectual history shaped by figures such as William Blake, Sigmund Freud and Jean Cocteau.
Exploring this artistic legacy has become an important part of Zvi's search for his own identity and artistic direction. History, personal experience and symbolism come together in an evolving artistic practice that increasingly embraces painting.
