MEE-GEMAAKT
MEE-GEMAAKT is a visual art exhibition exploring mental health. It examines what happens when personal experiences, psychological processes and human vulnerability are translated into art. Where words fall short, art can offer another language: a way to share experiences, explore, slow down and open up new perspectives.
‘What you know, but cannot put into words.’
Fourteen artists give form to their lived experiences, each in their own way, working across different disciplines and from a personal perspective. Art as a lifeline. Their works explore the reclaiming of identity, trauma, emotional turmoil, grief, fear and the path towards recovery. MEE-GEMAAKT reveals how art can become a language that breaks through shame and distance, creating space for connection and mutual understanding.
The exhibition is accompanied by a public programme featuring talks, guided tours and film screenings. Looking, listening, asking questions and sharing experiences together form the common thread.
Artists Guévørk Aivazian, Monika Auch, Ellen van Baal, André Evers, Pjotr Gonggrijp, Eric Hage, Renée Marcus Janssen, Finn Moedt, Sanna Martha, Maasja Ooms, Carlien Oudes, Jan Selen, Marian van Unen and Esmé Vahrmeijer.
MEE-GEMAAKT is a co-creation by Stichting NDSM FUSE, painter and curator Carlien Oudes, and psychiatrist Jim van Os, in collaboration with social organisations and local community initiatives.
