Ege Şahin: Mirror Angel
Ege Şahin’s Mirror Angel emerges from an improvisation practice to explore sound’s vibratory potential in the space between a human performer, electric guitar, and amplifier(s). There will be a rationally tuned baritone feedback guitar, transducers, electromagnetic mics and exciters, and a performer in relationship with them through feedback, metal objects, and his body.

Ege Şahin works in sound and music near the free-improvisation and electro-acoustic spheres with care for materiality in composition and spirituality in performance. On the more academic side, he has been researching the relationship between different cultures’ metaphysics and their sound culture as part of his Master’s at the Institute of Sonology, in the Hague, where he is now based. He continues the practice of “Mirror Angel” as a relationship between him, a baritone electric guitar, and amplifiers, including the little ones in people’s mobile phones.

Kristijonas will present a live experimental improvisation based on sampling with the Pioneer CDJ-300. Sculpturally manipulating sound, with this performance he will re-interpret past technology and play with feelings of nostalgia and weightlessness.

Kristijonas Groblys is an audio engineer and sound artist from Vilnius, Lithuania. With a background in sound technology, acoustic recording and instrument design, he engages with a variety of disciplines of sound and music within his practice. Kristijonas seeks to explore the grey area between pop and experimental culture, embracing both in his work. His influences range from hip-hop and jazz to the World Soundscape Project, and his central interests are sampling, field recording and digital sound synthesis.
