Ledenconcert Remy van Kesteren
Remy van Kesteren presents MEMBER CONCERTA try-out of a new performance about Orpheus, the harp and resistance

With THREADS, harpist and composer Remy van Kesteren brings together his classical roots, his international success as a solo artist, and the electronic music that led him into the world of pop.
“After ten years of following my own path, I no longer want to choose between the different worlds I know — I want to bring them together. THREADS is my attempt to go deeper and take the audience with me.”

The harp, the instrument on which Remy has long been regarded as one of the world’s leading talents and innovators, forms the connecting thread between these different worlds.

In the performance, Remy combines loops, electronics and his extraordinary virtuosity on the harp. Together with visual and lighting artist Jurjen Alkema, he creates a truly immersive audiovisual experience.

Remy van Kesteren (1989) is internationally regarded as one of the most innovative harpists of his generation. The New York Times praised him as a “brilliant harpist”, but just as he seemed to have achieved everything within the classical world, his artistic journey was only beginning. His career has been defined by a constant desire to question musical conventions, push boundaries and reinvent the harp — both as an instrument and as an artistic medium.

From his debut album Tomorrow Eyes (2016) to his most recent collaborative project Leave What You Know (2025), Remy’s work moves freely between pop, electronic music, alternative music, classical music and avant-garde. His work is driven by boundless curiosity, enthusiasm and imagination.

As an artist, Remy draws inspiration from Glenn Gould and Jimi Hendrix: musicians who did not simply follow their instruments, but reinvented them, developing their own language that needed no category.

Splendor can only be the independent and free hub that it is, thanks to the members who support us. We pay them back with our specialty: music. Every year, all Splendor musicians play one concert that's free for this crucial group to whom Splendor owes its everyday existence. Combined with many other events, this means that our members have free entrance to over 50 concerts a year for €9,99 p/m (and €4,99 p/m for minima and students!) – and receive a discount for all other concerts. Pretty good deal, right?

The members enable Splendor to remain independent, which is the only way to secure real freedom in programming, experimentation, risk-taking and the promotion of young, upcoming artists. If you can think of another place without a central programming, where last-minute concerts can be planned any moment, where there is no backstage and artists and audience are constantly mingling and hanging out at the bar, where mysterious creative outbursts can be presented that are often labeled 'too risky' elsewhere, and that still guarantees high quality by unleashing the best of The Netherlands' music scene in this creative playground – you get a free membership!

Would you rather just visit this concert without becoming a member? You're more than welcome! Buy your ticket(s) below.
