We live in a world of chaos, unrest and division. In a world that is becoming increasingly removed from nature

and seems out of balance, there is great longing for a different perspective: a hopeful perspective of restoring harmony and balance with nature and all living beings. This film captures the essence of a unique and ancient

ceremony of over 3000 years. A ceremony that - after a vision in 1968 - was revived and where leaders of indigenous peoples from all over the world have been uniting for over 30 years for peace, equality and reconnection with nature ánd each other!.

Documentary Synopsis: In 1968, medicine man Raymundo Tigre Perez (Mexico/USA) had a vision. He saw indigenous Wisdom Keepers from around the world gathered in a circular pit—with a fire in their hearts—performing a ceremony. A spiritual ceremony for the earth, for the peace and well-being of all living beings. Only later did he discover that this was a KIVA, an ancient ceremony already practiced by the Anasazi 3,000 years ago. Hundreds of indigenous Wisdom Keepers responded to his call, and these KIVA ceremonies have been held around the world for over 30 years. The KIVA ceremony is a collective call from the entire indigenous population: they have never lost touch with nature and, with their ancient wisdom, can offer us tools for a more connected and sustainable way of life! The viewer is invited to reflect on how we can restore our relationship with the earth. "The Earth cries and calls her children home!"

Marijke Kodden was one of the first and few to receive permission to film the unique KIVA ceremonies in the Netherlands in 2018. She then traveled to KIVA ceremonies in Mexico and India, back to KIVA Holland in 2019, and finally to the KIVA ceremony in Germany in 2021. Many Wisdom Keepers were interviewed, and together with her best friend Rakinah Buttner and Jaap Verhoeven (whom they brought into the project in 2021), they created a hopeful documentary that shows us how we can restore our relationship with the Earth and each other!

* Lakota Wisdom Keeper and Water Protector CHERYL ANGEL (USA)

Cheryl is an Indigenous leader and water guardian, descended from the Sicangu tribe of South Dakota. She supported Sacred Stone Camp during the occupation of Standing Rock to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline. Her message was: Stand up with Standing Rock, defend the sacred, and more importantly, Mniwiconi, water is life. For the past six years, Cheryl Angel has traveled extensively, connecting with Indigenous and non-Indigenous women and people living in sustainable communities. These journeys inspired the Sovereign Sisters Gathering, which Cheryl has organized in the sacred and beleaguered Black Hills of South Dakota. In Rapid City, she is the matriarch of nine young family members. Her tiwahe (family) is ninefold.

Cheryl Angel has been deeply committed to returning land to Indigenous people. She is currently launching a national campaign to make the theft of the Black Hills a national issue. Tonight she will share about her project: Dreaming the Horses Home, about the importance to bringing the Native horses home to the Native families.

* Music by FRANCESCA FRALALAI (Italy NL) - Harp, drums, and vocals

As a harpist and singer, Fralalai awakens the sacred, otherworldly, and mythical within us. Fralalai was born in the Italian Alps. From her parents, she inherited a love of Northern European Celtic tradition, music, and spirituality, as well as the history of Sardinia, an ancient island rich in legends, sacred sites, and folklore. These inspired her to reconnect with her ancestral roots. She embodies the beauty and language of the natural elements of the idyllic Alps in her music.

* CHAUTILEO TRANAMIL (Mapuche Ancestry - Chile / NL)

Chautuileo Tranamil is a committed advocate for the well-being of all. She is a daughter of the Mapuche-Pewenche Indigenous Peoples from Chile and currently resides in the Netherlands. As an educator and public speaker, she fervently promotes Indigenous rights and intercultural understanding. She is a strong believer of reciprocity. Outside her professional endeavors, Chautuileo values her time in nature with loved ones, seeking balance in her life.

She is the co-founder of various initiatives, such as the Indigenous Liberation Movement, the 80/20 campaign and Mycelium Joy.
