About SAC Art Amsterdam:

About Mama Magnet:
Mama Magnet is a nomadic curatorial unit founded in 2020, working across Asia and Europe to produce playful art experiences that take shape as undisciplined outputs: exhibitions, installations, radio shows, parties and online experiences.

About the event:

United under the spirit of D-I-Y (do it yourself) and improvisation, the fair brings together newly received works carefully selected from an open call, alongside archives from both SAC Art Amsterdam and Mama Magnet. Expect independent artist zines, books, prints and other small formats from 20 international established and emerging artists.

Jugaad is more than a word. It's an act of being, doing and surviving that South Asians grow up with. Today, the word sits in the Oxford English Dictionary and is recognised far beyond its Punjabi and Sanskrit origins, naming an everyday intelligence of getting by and getting it done.

The programme traces how jugaadi thinking has travelled beyond South Asia, into other cultures, reflexes and languages, reimagining what it can mean and where it can go. It honours surprising and humorous instances of resourcefulness, adaptation and winging it.
