Joy Oladokun
As a queer Black musician and the daughter of Nigerian immigrants, Joy Oladokun has emerged as a significant cultural voice; she writes songs that explore themes such as identity, faith, mental health, and social justice with honesty and restraint. These themes lie at the heart of 'Hope Is A Heavy Thing', her new album. Produced by Oladokun herself, with additional contributions from Nigerian producer Spellz and a guest appearance by Nigerian artist Adekunle Gold. The album marks a bold new creative chapter. She expands her sound while continuing to explore questions of identity, resilience, and belonging with the emotional depth that has become her trademark. Moreover, the project reflects her ability to draw on diverse influences and create music that transcends both genres and geographical boundaries.
